[LANdb] Project status, and farewell to all

This is an extremely difficult thing to do, so please bear with me...

I've decided that it's time to pass LANdb on to someone more suited to
maintain it. A lot of time, sweat and tears have gone into my months of
work on it, and as a result, I've lost a lot of time and most sadly, I
nearly lost the love of my life. When it comes right down to it, that's
too much to ask of a developer. It's time for me to move on.

The past few months have been too busy to dedicate any time to development
(obviously). My work with FreeLists and my new job (yes, I left the job
that encouraged me to start the project in the first place out of
frustration and disgust) has consumed most of my free time, again
stressing my personal life. I guess it's time for a change, and it's time
to stop picking up these projects that require that I devote entire chunks
of my life to.

I would like to ensure that the project doesn't just disappear, so I will
still gladly host the website and mailing lists, along with contributing
what time I can to explaining the "what exactly were you thinking here?"
questions from whomever takes over.

I'd like someone to step forward and continue with development. That's a
lot to ask, I know, but there are a lot of you (especially on the devel
list) who have spent a lot of time with the code. I can give you shell on
avenir.dhs.org for maintaining the webpages, admin on these mailing lists,
and the auth info necessary for the SourceForge stuff. (Speaking of the
lists: I'd like to move them to FreeLists -- the "facilities" there are
much better.) Please mail me off-list if you'd like to take over.
Preferably, this would be someone who has done a lot of work with the
code, has experience with the hardware, and maybe even some of the SNMP
end of things. --I'll draw straws or something.

Thanks: Frank and Leif, you've been there since the beginning; thanks.
Teddy (hey, I got it right this time :)), Dale, Nils and Sean, you guys
came in later, but your contributions have been no less important. Thank
you. It meant a lot to know the hours helped someone out. To anyone that
I missed, thanks go out to you too.

I'll see you guys around. Hang in there.

John
